LaMelo Ball trades, with Hornets
In a match against the Hawks, LaMelo Ball did not convince his coach in the first half, defensively. Charles Lee therefore decided, during the break, to express his displeasure to his playmaker so that he could progress. Message received, in this Hornets win.
“By challenging him, we’re not getting into him, but we want him to be aware of things”, is justified Charlotte’s trainer. “The Hawks’ strategy was to almost target him in every action. His reaction was very important and it shows that he continues to improve competitively. He tries in every way possible to influence wins. This is a very mature adjustment on his part.”
Rarely much of a concern on this side of the court, LaMelo Ball is showing he can be more involved. “That’s what I have to do: to be complete on both ends of the floor. We need everyone to attack and defend. I try to do that, to do what is necessary for the team to win.”he responds.

With fewer goals this season and cheaper, with fewer turnovers and better 3-point skills in recent weeks, is LaMelo Ball finally, at 24 and in his sixth season, more mature? More focused on collective results than statistics?
“I see that his maturity level is developing. He not only believes in his own qualities but also in the qualities of the team”state Pat Connaughton, recently cut but right back and North Carolina. “What I’ve seen from the beginning here is his desire to win, which is genuine. We had to surround him with players and a coach who want the same thing, and add some veterans. He’s going to listen, he’s going to react and do what it takes to win games, because that’s what he wants. The franchise has done a good job of surrounding him with the right people, in the right place.
With 13 wins in their last 17 matches, the Hornets are in 9th place in the East. They are heading not only for their best regular season since the 2021/22 financial year (43 wins), but also for the play-offs, which would be the first in four years. After years of disaster, something is finally happening in Charlotte.
“We try to do our best to really win. That’s pretty much it,” concludes Bal. “I have a feeling that we are changing the culture and trying to build something positive.”
