Anferni Simmons is back in trouble with “tanking”
Anfernee Simmons he hadn’t played in the playoffs in five years, and he thought he’d find them again with the Celticsfirmly placed on the podium of the Eastern Conference. Except Boston’s executives have already parted ways with him, sending him to Chicago for recover Nikola Vucevic.
For a point guard/guard, it’s pretty complicated to go from the Celtics to the Bulls who just dynamited their team. “This is not a normal situation”, laments the former Blazers. “Seven new players, six of whom play a lot, so we have to learn on the job. It will require a lot of communication. From experience. We will have to get through this together, mistakes and all.”
Although they pleasantly surprised at the beginning of the season with their alert play, the Bulls seem to have given up on the season, trapped by this team full of players at the end of their contracts. Eventually, most packed their bags, and since the trade deadline, the team hasn’t won, until leaving the play zone.
“It’s going to take patience. I think we’re all competitors. Obviously, we want to win. This is the ultimate goal.” he reminds. “But now it’s time to know ourselves, learn from our mistakes and try to build something from there.”
Players must prove themselves…
As for management, do we really want new players to work hard to get the game? This is far from certain, and management is undoubtedly turning to the draft in hopes of retrieving Darrin Peterson. AJ Dibants or Cameron Boozer, whose dad played for the Bulls.
“My last two or three years in Portland, (tanking) was the name of the game,” concludes Anferni Simmons. “So I’m kind of used to it. Everyone’s going to assume that, and some things are going to be out of your control. But we keep the same state of mind, we stay professional and I think we’re going to put ourselves in a better position, collectively and individually. A lot of us are at the end of our contracts. A lot of teams are watching how you deal with this situation. As long as we manage to fight, we fight in a professional way, we fight in the field. things right, I think the rest will take care of itself.
