The class of 2027 KB makes a huge commitment decision

The TCU Horned Frogs opened the 2027 recruiting class on Saturday three-star quarterback commitment Brice McCurdy of Waco (TKS) Robinson. McCurdy chose TCU over Baylor, Cincinnati, Duke, UCF and Arizona, finalizing the selection that followed a Jan. 28 visit by head coach Sonny Dykes and assistants Gordon Semis and Brad Robbins, along with a recent trip to campus for the program’s Top Target Day.

A 6-foot-2, 205-pound dual-threat quarterback, McCurdy is ranked No. 594 nationally, No. 38 quarterback and No. 81 in Texas in the On3/Rivals Industry Rankings. The composite rankings list him as the No. 593 overall prospect, the No. 40 quarterback nationally and the No. 5 quarterback in Texas.

As a sophomore, McCurdy threw for 2,016 yards with 17 touchdowns against five interceptions, leading Robinson High School to an 8-3 record and its first playoff appearance in seven years. During his junior season in 2025, he passed for 2,200 yards passing and rushed for nearly 700 yards.

McCurdy becomes the only current member of TCU’s Class of 2027 after quarterback Jerry Meyer III, who originally pledged in August, decommitted from the program on Feb. 3 following a recruiting board reset. Although the early signing period isn’t until December, McCurdy’s verbal commitment provides the Horned Frogs with a foundation at the position more than a year in advance.

The decision throws another curveball into Baylor’s quarterback race in 2027. The Bears offered McCurdy on Jan. 23, but ultimately finished behind TCU. Baylor previously lost Malachi Zeigler to the SMU Mustangs, and now has Rosharon (Texas) quarterback Carson White, who is 370th overall and 25th at his position, along with Cypress (Texas) running back Braden Baker, who has thrown for 2,806 yards and 32 interceptions this season.
