LeBron James is saying the quiet part about LA’s title chances out loud

on Sunday, The NBA All-Star Game will be underway from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, featuring the Lakers star LeBron James takes part in the festivitiess. James was recently left out of the All-NBA team this year due to his absence from the lineup this season, but he will still be in uniform for fans at All-Star Weekend.
It’s been an up-and-down season for the Lakers so far, and more recently for James became 100% honest on his team’s title chances as they head into a long run of the campaign.
“Our success is going to come down to our health,” James said, according to ClutchPoint’s Brett Siegel on X, formerly Twitter.
Health has indeed been a major question mark for the Lakers at times this season, with James missing the first part of the campaign and Austin Reaves recently being sidelined for about a month in the midst of his breakout campaign.
Lakers star Luka Doncic has also been out of the lineup for the past few games, though he will be able to participate in Sunday’s All-Star game.
Even when fully healthy, many experts are skeptical of the Lakers’ ability to compete for a championship, given the lack of two-way players on the roster. While Los Angeles has the offensive firepower to compete with anyone, there aren’t many above-average defenders on the roster, a problem the Minnesota Timberwolves exposed in detail during last year’s playoffs.
Still, as James noted, staying healthy will go a long way in allowing this Lakers team to maximize its prospects in April, and so far that’s been a big challenge for the team heading into the 2025-26 season.
Either way, the All-Star Game is set to begin Sunday at 5:00 PM ET. Meanwhile, the Lakers will next take the floor on Friday at home against the Clippers.
