Why LeBron James Doesn’t Care About Playing in the All-Star Game in Los Angeles
On Sunday night, The NBA All-Star game was held at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California. Participation in the festivities was Lakers star LeBron Jameswho has long been known as one of the most entertaining players in the game.
While the festivities may be taking place in Southern California, James recently spoke out why can’t you see him as a kind of celebration of the Lakers.
“LeBron James said playing the All-Star Game in LA doesn’t mean anything to him because ‘it’s not our building. It’s a road game,'” Joshua Valdez of Athlon Sports reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Indeed, the home of the Lakers, Cripto.com Arena, is a few miles away in downtown Los Angeles, while the Intuit Dome is to the south in Inglewood.
This is the second year the Clippers have played in this arena, having previously shared a home at Cripto.com Arena, formerly known as Staples Center.
Meanwhile, James recently forfeited his All-NBA nod this year after missing more than the maximum 17 games allowed due to injury. However, it’s clear he’s still played at an All-Star level when healthy, leading the Lakers to a solid record thus far and a potential shot at a four-seed in the vaunted Western Conference playoff picture.
There has been huge speculation that this could be the final year of James’ career, as well as questions about what Los Angeles might choose to do with their star if they miss the playoffs again this year, as they did in 2025 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Some noted that the creation of James and Luka Doncic’s big contracts made it difficult for the Lakers to build a balanced roster.
Either way, the Lakers will take the floor next, coincidentally against the Clippers, on Friday night.
