Bill Simmons connects the dots on Jayson Tatum’s March 1 return date
It doesn’t look like it Boston Celtics fans would have to wait a long time Jayson Tatum to come backif Bill Simmons‘ Conspiracy theory is every indication. In the latest episode of his self-titled podcast, the lifelong Celtics fan read the tea leaves and came to the conclusion that Tatum on the way back the first week of March — with his money being on the first of the month.
“I don’t know if you saw this over the weekend. Celtics and Sixers on Sunday night, March 1st. Moved from six to eight in the afternoon. That caused a hmm,” Simmons said.
“I’ve been hearing for a while about the first week of March. That it will be sometime around that game on March 4th and 6th. Conspiracy Law also noted that if you go to any ticket resale site for the Dallas game on March 6th, the prices are messed up. And it can’t just be Cooper Flag coming to town.”
“So it’s really starting to look like March 1 or 6, but my money would be on March 1 for him right now.”
The Celtics are poised to take over the East

The Celtics emerged as one of the biggest surprises of the 2025-26 NBA season; despite being without Tatum, they were able to hold down the fort in large part thanks to the consistency of Jaylen Brown and the brilliance of head coach Joe Mazzula.
But the Celtics know their dreams of competing for the Larry O’Brien Trophy in June will depend on Tatum being healthy and ready to make an impact on the team not even a year after tearing his Achilles in the playoffs.
It will be in high demand Tatum to try to trick the Celtics over the hump when he certainly won’t be 100 percent this early in his return from a torn Achilles. But the fact that there are signs pointing to an earlier-than-expected return is incredible for Boston and it’s incredible for the league as a whole.
