Nikola Jokic deserves the utmost respect from his peers in the player poll

During the weekend, The NBA All-Star game was held from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California, home of the Los Angeles Clippers. He was among the starters for the world team Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokicwho played sparingly in the game as he continues to recover from a knee injury that sidelined him a month earlier this season.
Over the weekend, the players in attendance took part in an Athletic poll, and one of the questions asked was who they think is the best player in the NBA today.
Not surprisingly, Jokić received by far the most votes in that department, according to The Athletic, continuing to solidify his position as the best player of his generation.
The Nuggets star already has three MVPs to his name and could very well add a fourth to his resume this season, though he’ll need to play most every game on the year to reach the 65-game threshold required for the awards.
Denver, meanwhile, has fallen surprisingly short in recent weeks, dropping some puzzling contests leading up to the All-Star break, including a tough loss at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers, with new trade acquisition James Harden burying some streaky jumpers.
Injury has bitten Denver in a big way this year, with Peyton Watson and Aaron Gordon currently sidelined with hamstring injuries and Jokic recently returning from a knee ailment.
The Nuggets will hope for better injury luck during the season as they look to secure one of the top seeds in the Western Conference’s vaunted playoff picture.
Either way, Denver will next take the floor Thursday night on the road against the Clippers, coincidentally in the same building where the All-Star game took place.
