Mike Conley is well and truly back at Wolves
Mike Conley they won’t really pack their bags in the end. As announced a few days agoThe 38-year-old veteran point guard has officially re-signed with Wolves until the end of the season, which rounded off one of the most commented “tricks” of the “trade deadline”.
Because Minnesota did part with its leader… to better recover him. Traded, Mike Conley first landed in Chicago, before being traded back to Charlotte. Enough to avoid the “Zydrunas Ilgauskas rule”which prevents a team from re-signing a player they just traded to avoid a convenient transfer.
Except the ban only applies to the last franchise that transferred the player. The result: after being released by the Hornets, Mike Conley couldn’t return to the Bulls…but he could legally return to Minnesota!
The move is therefore ideal for the Wolves, who achieved a big difference: gaining flexibility at the trade deadline to get hold of Aio Dosunmuand then bring Mike Conley back.
