What impressed Dusty Mai the most about the Purdue ouster

After Arizona stumbled twice in a week, Michigan basketball is back on top AP poll with just one loss on the season. Michigan has racked up a number of impressive wins on the year, and added one of its best to date on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines entered Tuesday against No. 7 Purdue as a slight favorite, but quickly showed why they are the class of the nation at this point. May’s side used a massive first-half run to build a double-digit lead and never looked back in a convincing 91-80 victory at Mackay Arena.

After the game, May talked about one thing that impressed him most of the big road win, via Zach Shaw of 247 Sports.

Dusty Mai says Michigan’s attitude at Mackay Arena was ‘incredibly impressive,'” Shaw wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Notes he felt all nine rotation players were ‘up for the challenge.'”

Michigan is now 25-1 on the season despite playing a very tough schedule, becoming the No. 1 team in the Big Ten to reach that mark from Ohio State all the way back to 2011, via Matt Norlander of CBS Sports.

As it has all season, Michigan has done it with its size and depth this season. From the start, the combination of Adai Mara, Morez Johnson Jr. and Yakel Landeborg provided the Purdue frontcourt. The Wolverines finished the night with seven double-digit scorers, led by Elliott Caddo with 17.

This win will not only solidify Michigan’s spot atop the media polls, but the Wolverines remain firmly in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and with this result.

However, the tests don’t stop at this gauntlet of Michigan’s schedule. May will take his team to Washington DC on Saturday to face No. 3 Duke in a non-conference neutral site game, where a win would further cement Michigan at the top. At the end of the month, the Wolverines have a tough test on the road against No. 10 Illinois as they prepare for the postseason.
