Chris Paul picks the best organization he’s ever played for

One of the greatest point guards in the NBA has decided to hang up his shoes for good. Chris Paul announced his retirement from the NBA earlier this week. Paul, who played for multiple teams in his storied career, ends up as the greatest point guard of his generation.
Of all the teams Paul has played for in his career, which do you think is the best? For a player dubbed the “God of the Point,” the answer is obvious: San Antonio Spurs. Retired NBA legend talked about this in a recent appearance on a Twitch stream. He showed a board the Spurs had sent him with pictures of him in different teams and a list of the players he had assisted the most.

The Spurs were the penultimate team Paul played for before retiring. The fullback played for San Antonio in 2024, playing briefly with French superstar Victor Vembanyama. Although the Spurs didn’t have much team success that season, Paul was still an integral part of the team, and Wembanjama grew into the monster the NBA knows today.
Chris Paul began his NBA career with the New Orleans Hornets in 2005. Drafted fourth overall by the team, Paul played seven seasons with the team. He would then be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, where he would be best known as the conductor of the now legendary “Lob City” teams. Those two teams are the teams where Paul stayed the longest.
After his tenure with the Clippers ended, Paul bounced around several teams. He would become part of the Houston Rockets teams that challenged the Golden State Warriors in the late 2010s. He then had a brief stint in Oklahoma City, where he teamed up with a young Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. His closest chance to win the NBA championship was in Phoenix, where they reached the 2021 NBA Finals.
Paul would play for the Warriors for one year in 2023 before being with the Spurs. The NBA legend joined the Clippers this season in what was supposed to be Paul’s retirement tour. However, his stay with the Clippers ended in disaster after that Paul was benched and sent home mid-season. Paul was traded to the Raptors before the trade deadline, who immediately released him moments before his retirement.
