Giannis, Anthony Edwards know exactly what they’re doing with viral moments after trade rumors

The biggest story in the NBA is Giannis Antetokounmpo’s immediate futureas it appears to be nearing the end of its run with Milwaukee Bucks. A possible trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo sent shockwaves around the league, even preventing teams from trading to see if the two-time MVP was available for purchase.

In the days leading up to the trade deadline, one team became the prime destination for Giannis Antetokounmpo’s services: Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves, led by a charismatic star Anthony Edwardsthey made runs to the Western Conference Finals the past two seasons, but didn’t seem to have enough to overcome the problem. So, The Timberwolves began an aggressive pursuit of Antetokounmpoand playing with Edwards seemed to be top of mind for the Bucks star.

Ultimately, the talks fell through as Milwaukee decided to hold Antetokounmpo out until the end of the season and explore his future this offseason. At the All-Star break, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Edwards fueled trade rumors.

U video he posted Timberwolves, the two All-Stars were seen interacting in the tunnel at the Intuit Dome and mentioned how they knew their video together would go viral.

“We’re going to go viral again, man,” Antetokounmpo said.

Edwards replied, “We’re always going to go viral, if you put me and you together. We’re going to go viral.”

These interactions between players at the All-Star Game are always seen as a possible precursor for the team in the future. During the 2019 All-Star Game, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were caught on video talking to each other privately, which many speculated at the time that they might be teaming up to play with each other. And the speculation seemed to be correct.

On the Kevin Durant podcast ETC with Kevin Durant in September 2020, Durant indicated that the interaction confirmed their intention to play against each other, although they did not know which team they would join.

“The footage of the All-Star game where they caught us in the hallway. That’s when it was confirmed that we were going somewhere. They didn’t know exactly where it was, but it was somewhere.”

Durant added that the All-Star weekend conversation was not the first time they had discussed their future.

“It’s like we’d have these (basketball) conversations all day, every day. And it grew from there. It just grew from there, it was organic, you know what I’m saying? And it wasn’t something that you can kind of pinpoint and say like, this was a moment. It just, it just happened.”

It is not known whether Edwards and Antetokounmpo had similar conversations, and they certainly did not on that tape. But there is a possibility that we could see two All-Star teams in the future.

The Bucks and Timberwolves return to action on Friday night. Minnesota hosts Dallas at 7:30 p.m., with the game televised on ESPN. Meanwhile, the Bucks will travel to New Orleans for tip-off at 8:00 p.m.
