Boston drew the “most dangerous team in the East” draw after the All-Star break

The The Boston Celtics are currently in training to begin the unofficial second half of the season, which will begin Thursday night against the Golden State Warriors. The Celtics were represented by Jaylen Brown at the NBA All-Star weekend, participating as part of one of the USA teams in the round robin tournament.

The Celtics have performed much beyond expectations this year, and recently the former NBA guard Lou Williams participated in FanDuel’s “Run It Back” show. to heap praise about what Boston was able to accomplish in 2025-26.

“I still think Boston is the most dangerous team in the East,” Williams said, per Run It Back on X, formerly Twitter.

“They exceeded everyone’s expectations … Jaylen Brown should be in these MVP conversations,” co-host Chandler Parsons added.

Indeed, most pundits expected the Celtics to be a dead-end playoff team at best this year, given that the team was without injured superstar Jayson Tatum and also parted ways with Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis via trades over the summer, moves that were largely financially motivated.

However, as Parsons noted, Brown has played at a borderline MVP level for the Celtics this year, more than replicating Tatum’s production, while also getting some help from players like Derrick White and Peyton Pritchard, who have rounded into form after a rough start to the year.

The prospect of Tatum’s eventual return, which is becoming more likely at some point this season by the day, is being trumped. If Tatum can even look like himself during Boston’s upcoming playoff run, the Celtics would likely be the clear favorites to come out of the East this year.

Either way, the Celtics next play the Warriors on Thursday at 10:00 PM ET when they begin their trip to the West Coast.
