The Hughes family already has an Olympic gold medal, thanks to mum Ellen
The United States notched a victory for the year as the women’s ice hockey team posted a 2-1 overtime triumph over Canada to win the gold medal. Team USA tied the score late in the third period when he was the team captain Hilary Knight turned home shot by Leila Edwards that sent the game into overtime.

Megan Keller gave United States triumph when she skated past Team Canada goalie Ann-Renee Desbiens and fired a shot into the net, sparking wild celebrations. The overtime goal was one of the greatest moments in American women’s hockey history.
Among those celebrating were USA men’s hockey team stars Quinn and Jack Hughes. That’s because their mother, Ellen Weinberg-Hughes, won the gold medal by winning the women’s race. She served as a Player Development Consultant for the Americans and that allowed her to win the gold medal.
Quinn Hughes helped the Americans advance to the semifinals of the Olympic hockey tournament when he scored an overtime goal against Sweden in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. If the Americans defeat Slovakia on Friday, they will meet the winner of the Canada-Finland game for the Olympic title.
The gold medal game between the United States and Canada has been anticipated since the two countries met in the 4 Nations match last year. Canada won that hockey tournament with Connor McDavid’s overtime goal.
Quinn and Jack Hughes will obviously play big roles for Team USA in the medal round, but their mother has already won a gold medal in hockey for the Hughes family.
