‘Blessed’ LaMelo Ball appears for Hornets one day after car accident
Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball says he feels “blessed” after the game against the Houston Rockets a day after being involved in a car accident.
The 24-year-old’s custom Hummer collided with an oncoming vehicle in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday.
The American scored 11 points and had seven rebounds and seven assists in his team’s 105-101 loss – but Ball was just grateful to be involved.
“I am alive and blessed,” he said.
“God is great.”
The front left tire on Bol’s vehicle fell off during the accident, but no one was seriously injured.
Shortly after the accident, Ball was spotted being picked up by a black Lamborghini. The police were on the scene at the time.
“Luckily they’re all cool, so bless,” Ball added.
Ball joined the Hornets in 2020, when he was the third overall pick in the draft.
In 2021, he was named Rookie of the Year after an outstanding debut season at North Carolina, while he was named an NBA All-Star in 2022.
In November 2024, Ball was fined $100,000 (£79,000) by the NBA for “offensive and derogatory” homophobic comment during an interview in court.
The fine was the maximum the NBA could impose under current guidelines.
