Tage Thompson was injured against Slovakia

Tage Thompson assisted Team USA get down to a strong start against Slovakia in the men’s ice hockey semifinals, something that has been lacking at these Winter Olympics, but he didn’t finish the game. The Buffalo Sabres star, who had a goal and an assist in the 6-2 win, appears to have suffered some sort of injury. He was not on the bench at the start of the third period and was ruled out for the rest of the match. However, there is some encouraging news.
Thompson held on for precautionary reasonsaccording to hockey insider Elliotte Friedman. While it’s obviously unfortunate that the 28-year-old forward had to leave the ice, the Americans will take solace in knowing that he clearly could have played if needed. However, fans will wait to fully relax until they get more concrete information on injuries ahead of Sunday’s gold medal showdown with powerhouse Canada.
