Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert relentlessly with the Mavericks

Anthony Edwards Rudy GobertAll Star MVP, Anthony Edwards brought the trophy to his fans, and he celebrated by scoring 40 points in defense of the Mavericks, who conceded their 10th straight loss.

From the start of the game, the Wolves were pouring outside shots: 8 3-pointers on 13 attempts and 40 points scored in twelve minutes for a 40-25 lead. Naz Reed, Donte DiVincenzo and Jaden McDaniels set the tone from behind the arc, while Dallas, notably without Cooper Flagg and Max Christie, is struggling to keep up. From this first quarter, we will remember this huge “poster dunk” by Reid on Daniel Gafford.

Minnesota continues its momentum in the second quarter. Despite a few turnovers, Chris Finch’s players maintained control thanks to their skill and dominance on the offensive rebound, especially with a very active Rudy Gobert near the circle.

Anthony Edwards exploded with 17 points in the second quarter alone and a total of 20 points at halftime. The Wolves return to the locker room with a comfortable lead (69-57) after having an 18-point lead.

Klay Thompson caught fire

But upon returning from the dressing room, the scenario changes. Minnesota’s offensive game stalled and Dallas took advantage and went on a 24-8 run late in the second quarter and early in the third. The Mavericks get back to within two points (77-75) midway through the third quarter. The Wolves responded and regained some air to take a 96-88 lead at the start of the final act.

In the fourth quarter, Klay Thompson caught fire and put Dallas back on the offensive. On a floater, Tyus Jones tied the game at 103-103 with 7 minutes left, capping a 12-2 run in favor of the Texans. The match, which was controlled by Minnesota for a long time, then turned into a tight duel.

At this point Edwards regained control. Over the final six minutes, he scored 14 of his 40 points, including a decisive 3-pointer to give his team the lead again. Naz Reed followed up with another game-winning shot, allowing the Wolves to regain final control of the matchup, for an eventual 122-111 win. Quite a flattering gap.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

Rudy Gobert suspended? The Frenchman received a Flagrant I foul in the second quarter and that means an automatic suspension for one match. After the match, we learned that the Wolves will request that this error be investigated and reversed.

A month without a win. The Mavericks’ last win dates back to January 22, against the Warriors. Since then, they’ve lost Cooper Flagg, Max Christie and transferred Anthony Davis. The result, the 10th defeat in a row and the longest losing streak in 28 years!
