Pau Gasol, elected president of the Athletes’ Commission

While his name is circulating for lead the future of NBA EuropePau Gasol is already adding a new line to his resume since being drafted President of the IOC Athletes Commission (International Olympic Committee). Therefore, he will represent athletes and sportsmen at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
In Milan, on the sidelines of the Winter Olympics, the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has therefore chosen its new management team and next to the former King of Spain we will find Maja Wloszczowska (Poland, cycling) as the first vice-president, Humphrey Kaiangea (Humphreia Kaiangea) and now there will be another (Ken) third vice-president position, which will be occupied by Oluseii Smith (Canada, athletics and bobsled).
Pau Gasol succeeds Emma Terho (Finland, ice hockey), who chaired the Tokyo 2020 advisory committee. “It is a great honor for me to take on the responsibility of leading our Commission”Gasol said after his selection. “Since being elected to Tokyo in 2021, it’s been an incredible learning journey that I’m excited to continue. I believe we have a unique opportunity, between now and the 28th session of the Legislative Assembly, to make significant progress and consolidate what we’ve achieved. Within the Olympic Movement, this committee plays a central role in representing the voice of athletes around the world to the IOC and beyond. The Commission consists of a maximum of 23 members, of which 12 are directly elected during the Summer and Winter Olympics, and a maximum of 11 members are appointed to ensure a balance between genders, regions and sports disciplines.
