Quinn Hughes defends brother Jack from “idiots” after Golden Goal

on Sunday, The USA hockey team won his first gold medal in more than five decades kicked out the Canadian national team in overtime in the gold medal game. It wasn’t always pretty, but in the end, Team USA did enough to secure the victory, thanks to an overtime goal Jack Hughes.

Also on Team USA was fellow NHL star Quinn Hughes, who was named the best defenseman of the tournament, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic.

After the game, Quinn Hughes returned fire at some of his brother’s critics, who have pointed to his injury concerns and other factors as reasons to be skeptical of his ability to perform on the Olympic stage.

“People don’t know s***. There’s a bunch of idiots out there and nobody’s rehabbed before. There’s reporters out there saying this and that. They don’t know what it’s like to have surgery for six months, not feel good for 10 months, and do it back to back. For him to just persevere and keep going, no matter what happens, he said what’s most important is what happens,” Hughes, per The Athletic’s Michael Russo.

Team USA star Dylan Larkin also praised Jack Hughes after his epic game-winning goal.

“Jacko, that moment. I can’t wait to watch it. The difference between a guy wanting the puck on his stick in that moment, if you look at the video, I turn around and go back. He wants it and he fucking put it in the net. That’s what superstars do. Just that moment for us, it’ll stay with me for the rest of my life,” Russo said.

It was indeed an instantly iconic moment for Hughes, who etched his name into the Olympic history books.

Team USA will be honored later in the day at a closing ceremony in Milan.
