Anthony Edwards sounds out of Tyrese Maxey’s poster

On Sunday, at the Target Center, Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey wowed fans with a powerful dunk in the third quarter over Minnesota Timberwolves stars Anthony Edwards and Joan Beringer. The play helped the Affiliate cruise to a 135-108 victory.

Maxey, who just played with Edwards in the All-Star Game, scored a game-high 39 points on 16-of-28 shooting. The win snapped the Sixers’ four-game losing streak, moving them to 31-26, and snapped Minnesota’s three-game winning streak, leaving them at 35-23.

Even after Maxey threw a giant poster at Edwards, he remained relaxed and smiling, showing no frustration toward the rising 76ers star.

“He’s unbelievable, man, he already knows he’s one of my favorite players in the league. He nailed me today, I don’t like that at all,” Edwards he told reporters after the game.

“I didn’t know it was going downhill. … I ended up turning my head. I thought he was going to lay it up and then he went and hit it. … That’s why we play the game, I’m not mad about it.”

Maxi gave an outstanding performance despite the absence of Joel Embiid and a 76ers team without Paul George, with neither star on the court.

Edwards had 28 points and nine rebounds, but Maxey’s 39 points led Philadelphia to a dominant win over Minnesota.

Rudy Gobert went down with a one-game suspension and Naz Reed missed the game with a shoulder injury, leaving Minnesota without a player.

Edwards and Maxey will meet again on April 3 in the final game of the regular season between Minnesota and Philadelphia.

Even after the viral dunk and the tough loss, Edwards remains a player to watch at just 24 years old. Whether he is underrated is debatable, but there is no doubt that he is one of the best talents in the game.

For now, Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they face the Portland Trail Blazers.
