Mikko Rantanen could ‘miss some time’ due to injury at the Olympics
The NHL Olympic break is coming to an end, and players are returning to their franchises. Finland lost to Canada in the semi-finalsbut he would go on to win the bronze medal.
In the semi-final against Canada, the Finnish team i Dallas Stars‘ striker Mikko Rantanen is injured. Now, there are rumors about his future status and the potential to miss time, according to Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast.
“Rantanen is injured here. I think he’s going to miss some time. I don’t think it’s the end of the season, but I think he’s going to miss some time,” Friedman said.
The forward was injured in the third period against Canada in the semifinals and then missed the bronze medal game. Finland beat Slovakia 6-1 without Rantanen and took home the medal. He was spotted going out to celebrate with his team after the win, according to Dallas Stars beat reporter Sam Nestler.
“Everybody’s smiling,” Nestler wrote of Rantanen heading into the celebration. He added that the attacker had a slight limp.
The Stars are in the middle of a playoff race, and any missed time would be a blow to the team. At 34-14-9 on the season, they are one point behind the Minnesota Wild for third place in the Central Division.
“One of the interesting questions will be when we come back, who’s in and who’s out, and who’s out for how long?” Friedman added on his podcast.

The Stars return to action on Wednesday night, hosting the Seattle Kraken. They must be hoping to have more answers about the status of their star forward before the content.
