Scottie Pippen Jr. and Myron Gardner face fines for Heat-Grizzlies feat

Following battle between Memphis Grizzlies guard Scottie Pippen Jr. and Heat guard Myron Gardner over the weekend, the NBA world waited for the league to issue any punishment, likely in the form of a fine.
Of course, on Monday it was announced that both Scottie Pippen Jr. and Myron Gardner were fined $35,000 each for their roles in a battle between the Grizzlies and the Heat, according to ClutchPoint’s Brett Siegel.
The incident occurred late in the third quarter of the Heat’s win against the Grizzlies on Saturday. The play was good when Pippen stepped onto the court and attempted a 3-point shot. The shot missed, but Gardner came up behind him and drove into his back, sending Pippen sprawling on the floor.
On his return to the court, Pippen looked for Gardner and rushed him, causing both players to go into the sideline. Teammates, coaches and officials rushed and eventually separated the pair.
For Gardner, a newcomer to the Heat, this is not his first encounter with an opposing player. Back in November, Gardner was caught on film talking trash with Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson. After that incident, a Heat assistant coach brought Gardner to Thompson after the game to apologize for his actions.
In the NBA’s announcement of the fines, the league considered Gardner to be the one who initiated the fight by his actions in shoving Pippen from behind. Both players were eventually ejected from the game, and after that, Pippen said he felt like it was a cheap shot.
