“It’s a blessing to have expectations, it means we’re doing something right,” Towns said in a postgame interview. “Last year we did a lot right, the fans expect even more. My career has been full of pressure and I understand that criticism comes with it when you fail. Rightly so.”

Last year, the Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals, and many thought they would beat the Indiana Pacers. That didn’t happen, but the Knicks made changes shortly after the loss, firing Tom Thibodeau and hiring Mike Brown as their new head coach.

They added some key players between the offseason and the trade deadline, and seemed poised to get back to where they were last season, but this time around, they’re going through a rough patch.

It will take a collective group effort, but they will also need to get more from their star players, and that includes Towns. some time Towns received criticism because he didn’t play up to his potential, which is something that has been said about him since he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
