Kliff Kingsbury gets an official, unique title on Sean McVay’s staff

It didn’t take long to The Los Angeles Rams will pick up Kliff Kingsbury after The commanders sent him packing. And now the Rams have given it to him official, unique title for Sean McVay’s staff, according to a post on X by Adam Schefter.

“Kliff Kingsbury is now the Rams’ assistant head coach. Recently retired VR Robert Woods has also been added as the Rams’ assistant receivers coach.”

It’s an interesting decision by McVay. When looking at the coaching staff roster, it almost looks like Kingsbury is a head coach in waiting.

How will Kliff Kingsbury fare with the Rams?

Things are looking a little dicey with the Rams pitching staff. Who actually runs the offensive show? Here’s another post by Schefter on X that attempts it tie it together.

“Sources: Los Angeles Rams promote passing game coordinator Nate Schellhas to offensive coordinator, make QB coach Dave Ragon co-offensive coordinator/QB coach. Schellhas interviewed for five head coaching jobs this hiring cycle. But now the NFL’s last uniquely filled OC opening is LA.”

That’s it nice landing for Kingsbury, who seemed to be losing ground around the NFL, according to this post on X by Ted Nguyen.

“Cliff became GK Greg Roman. Great for a few years and a creative game designer, but eventually you’ll hit the ceiling with him and you’ll need someone to take you above. Still young enough to change the narrative.”

That’s a tough estimate. But Kingsbury still has supporters, even outside of his pal McVay. Marcus Mariota is a fan, according to the Athletics.

“I think so much of Cliff,” Mariota said in January. “One, very good coach, amazing with the quarterbacks, but an even better person. When you’re able to play for somebody that you really believe in and believe in, I think that’s why I ended up doing my best. So, I’m biased. I think so highly of Cliff, so we’ll see what happens to him.”
