Victor Wembanyama hits a big milestone in the 1st quarter against the Pistons

That cannot be denied The San Antonio Spurs have an ultra-special talent in Victor Wembanyama. Everyone knows that, and he keeps reminding the NBA world what an incredible player he is.

He did it again in the first quarter of Monday night’s matchup between his Spurs and the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, when he made a huge defensive play to deny the home team a deep bucket.

With 1:49 left in the first period and 2.1 seconds left in the Pistons’ shootout, Detroit forward Ronald Holland II received an inbound pass and appeared to be wide open for a 3-pointer from the right side. However, Wembanyama used his mobility, speed and length to not only trouble Holland, but also block his shot.

And with that rebound, Vembanjama has it finally checked all the boxes when it comes to recording a block against every NBA team.

The 22-year-old Vembanjama is undoubtedly one of the best — if not the best — defenders in the NBA. He can defend all positions and is a legitimate threat in protecting the rim. A two-time NBA blocks leader, Wemby entered the Pistons game leading the league in the 2025-26 regular season with 2.7 blocks per contest.

With his rare blend of size, length and speed, two-time NBA All-Star Vembanjama is a capable defender near the rim or on the perimeter, as he made clear with that block on Holland, who likely would have pulled that shot off if another player was defending him.
