The Nike Air Flightposite 3 finally returns in 2027



Nike has always been the ultimate authority on all things basketball footwear, remaining a leader in innovative silhouettes since the early 1970s. The list of notable athletes is almost endless and includes some of the best to ever play the game like Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Reviving numerous models throughout 2025 and now 2026, Nike plans to revive the Nike Air Flightposite 3 sneaker for the first time ever.

Nike first introduced the Flightposite silhouette in 1999 as part of its Nike Alpha Project. The shoes were designed by sneaker architect Eric Avar, who is responsible for some of the most iconic Nike sneakers of all time such as the Foamposite and the Nike Kobe signature line.

The Nike Flightposite series was favored by several superstars of the late 90s and early 2000s, most notably the Timberwolves Kevin GarnettSpurs’ Tim Duncanand Alan Houston of the Knicks. For the first time since the Flightposite 3 released in 2001, Nike will be bringing back the hyper-futuristic silhouette in 2027.

Following a similar foam plastic construction to classics such as Air Foamposite and both previous ones Flightposite modelsthe third edition is probably the most unusual look of the collection. They look straight out of a sci-fi movie thanks to the “pods” on the side and were sold by some of the best players in the game. Reinforced by straps across the midfoot, the entire upper is made of foam material and is based on a reactive Nike Zoom outsole.

Expected to appear in a multitude of colorways throughout 2027, Nike plans to add another revamped look to the classic sneaker. Usually coming at a hefty price tag thanks to its premium materials, expect this pair to top the shelves at over $200. What’s more, fans have been clamoring for these to return for the last quarter of a decade, so expect a ton of excitement when these hit Nike SNKRS next year.
