Rival teams continue to view the Nets as trade suitors for Giannis Antetokounmpo
The The Brooklyn Nets are targeting the top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft After making an NBA-record five rounds last June, the team seemed committed to making it through the draft for the first time in the Brooklyn era. however, rival teams continue to score to Brooklyn as a potential trade suitor for Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer, according to NBA insider Jake Fisher.
“I also continue to hear rival teams musing aloud about the potential emergence of Brooklyn as a credible destination given the Nets’ significant cap space to package with, say, Michael Porter Jr. … or with a trade structure that keeps MPJ in place to play alongside Antetokounmpo,” Fisher wrote.
While the Nets are in the early stages of a rebuild, Antetokounmpo has long been considered their top trade target.
Rival teams think the Nets could enter the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes

Brooklyn has positioned itself as one of the worst teams in the NBA in pursuit of the top pick in the 2026 draft. However, the team won’t break even next season, owing the Houston Rockets a 2027 first-round trade. The Nets have the ammunition to put together one of the most competitive packages for Antetokounmpo.
They own an NBA-best 13 picks in the first round. Michael Porter Jr. or Nic Clacton could serve as a major salary supplement. Brooklyn could also include young prospects like Nolan Traore, Day’Ron Sharp, Noah Clowney, Drake Powell and Danny Wolf in the package.
The main question surrounding Brooklyn’s potential pursuit of Antetokounmpo is whether they could make a deal with enough remaining assets to build a team around the two-time MVP. With numerous teams chasing the Bucks superstar at the deadline and a few more likely to enter the equation in the offseasonthe price will not be low.
