Dejounte Murray reveals one thing New Orleans didn’t “f*cking” do in debut
Victory cures all ills, or so the cliché goes. However, he did not beat the Golden State Warriors prevent Dejounte Murray from cursing the regrouping the New Orleans Pelicans after the former’s debut All-Star season. The 29-year-old has been less than forthcoming about something James Borrego has been talking about since last August.
Instead, a veteran guard shared a rough grade that balanced frustration with perspective.
“We didn’t fucking rebound. We were terrible. We were terrible. Like, we were supposed to practice tomorrow when everybody’s rebounding,” Murray cursed. “Literally, Herb Jones hasn’t recovered. You know what I’m saying? When he declines, we all come back.”
Murray grabbed two boards and scored three assists and 13 points in 25 minutes, so there were smiles in the locker room after the game after the quick shot.

Still, he remained measured when assessing the bigger picture after his first game in nearly 13 months, stuck on one particular play.
“We could be better. I think I’ll give us a C+ tonight. It’s nice to have a C+ and win an NBA basketball game against a good team,” Murray allowed. “I don’t care who’s in, who’s out. Steve Kerr coaches his team very well. They have a system and they put the right players in a position to be successful.”
The forgiveness score underlines the bigger picture. Even a “terrible” performance can serve as a useful building block.
“I think we probably like C or C plus,” Murray reiterated. “We could have been more solid. Like, I had a little bit of a turnover there. I feel like I was fouled, but there’s no excuse. We’ve got to be solid. When teams trap and try to come from behind, we’ve got to be in our spots and be there for each other. I think that’s my job, but also, you know, it’s, also, that it’s, you know, it’s a collective quarterback, I said I’m as a collective unit. I’m here to win, so we have to to be better, if we win overall, you can build things and, you know, correct those mistakes.
Seven of the next nine games are on the road, starting with six games around the Western Conference. At least the first two games on the road are against the Utah Jazz. It’s the perfect setup for Dejounte Murray’s Pelicans to recover before the summer break.
