Warriors’ Will Richard joins rookies Cooper Flagg, Conn Kneuppel with wild stat against Grizzlies
The Golden State Warriors were heavily underplayed against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. To summarize, The Warriors were missing Stephen Curry, Kristaps Porzingis and Draymond Green in addition to a lingering injury that put Jimmy Butler on the shelf for the long haul. Even their leading scorer during Tuesday night’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans in De’Anthony Melton had to sit out for the second night in a row.
But the Warriors still got back on the winning track; it was a team effort that led the Dubs to a 133-112 road win. Eight different players scored in double figures for the Warriors, and it was rookie guard Will Richard who finished the night as the team’s leading scorer, with 21 points on 9-15 shooting from the field and 2-6 shooting from deep.
Richard added five rebounds, six assists and three steals to cap an all-around effort to lead the Warriors to victory. In doing so, Richard became just the fourth rookie this season to record at least 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals in a single game, joining Cooper Flagg, Conn Knueppel and Jeremiah Fears as only those who doaccording to WillRichardMuse on X (formerly Twitter).
It must be said that Richard was given the opportunity to pad the stats due to the absence of several key players for the Dubs. Regardless, he has shown time and time again that he can step up when given the opportunity, and that’s exactly what he did.
The Warriors continue to chip away at what has been a busy season

The hits kept coming for the Warriors; Curry is currently dealing with a knee injury, and the man they got in return for Jonathan Cummings just hasn’t been able to make a few games amid his ongoing battle with POTS.
The Warriors will need more of these games from their unheralded players, and Richard should earn himself more minutes if he continues this level of play.
