Doc Rivers teases Giannis’ imminent return from injury in a bizarre way

Giannis Antetokounmpo is working on a comeback in court for Milwaukee Bucks back from a calf strain last month, and looks to have made real progress. It is still uncertain when he will return to the field, but the head coach Doc Rivers noticed that he was playing 4v4, which, according to him, was a good sign.
Rivers was recently asked about Antetokounmpo’s returnlike there some clarification is needed about whether he could return, even though he didn’t have to play 5-on-5 specifically to be cleared.
“Guys, it’s not rocket science. Like, we do 3-on-3, 4-on-4, sometimes we do 5-on-5, sometimes we don’t. And it doesn’t really matter,” Rivers said, via Eric Nehm of the Athletics.
Rivers was then asked what Antetokounmpo needs to do to be cleared, and he gave a very bizarre answer.
“I have no idea, honestly. Maybe I should ask and I can get you some information, but I know it’s close. I don’t think it’s close like tomorrow, but he’s getting closer and he’s looked great. And that’s all I know. I can tell you what my eyes see and it looks good,” Rivers said.
It almost seems like Rivers might be keeping a secret about how close Antetokounmpo might be to returning, but he also might not really know and is leaving it up to the training staff.
The good news is that Antetokounmpo is improving and they have been able to win without him. The goal is for the Bucks to try to climb the standings so they can sneak into the Play-Ins, but they’ll either have to play a near-perfect two months, or the teams above them will have to fall.
In the end, all they can do is focus on what they’re doing while hoping to get their star back sooner rather than later.
