Aaron Judge defends New York amid tumultuous offseason talk

The New York Yankees they took a lot of flak during the offseason, as many called out the front office for bringing back essentially the same roster as last season. on Saturday, It took Aaron Judge a while to defend the team amid the narrative surrounding the club.
While appearing on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, the 33-year-old believes the players on the roster will improve your game. He believes that team camaraderie and familiarity with the organization is a positive for the Yankees.
“I like it,” Judge said when asked about the roster. “That’s one thing I’ve been vocal about is that people have kind of been telling us about, ‘Hey, it’s the same team. They’re not making any improvements.’ But you get a chance to see these guys in their second year in stripes. Second year in New York. They know the clubhouse, they know the expectations. They will only raise their game.
“The first year, you’re trying to relax, you’re trying to get to know the guys while you’re still trying to face the best pitchers in the game,” Judge continued. “It’s tough. So, I’m excited to have those guys back, and then plus, we got, we got a chance to get Gerrit Cole back. Some of our starting pitchers are coming back healthy. People say it’s the same team. But I have to disagree with them a little bit.”

The The Yankees made the playoffs in 2025but it was a brief visit after the club was swept by the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS. With a similar roster, the franchise is seemingly hoping that Judge is correct in his opinion about improving players, as well as having the added bonus of having Cole and other pitchers back.
Aaron Judge is entering his 11th MLB season. He is coming off a monster campaign in 2025, where his efforts earned him the third AL MVP award of his career. The six-time All-Star finished last season with a league-leading .331 average (a career high) and a .457 OBP. He also recorded 179 hits, 53 home runs, 114 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.
