DeAndre Jordan mocks Jeremy Fears for not getting a technical
Veterans Center DeAndre Jordan has played with some of the most combustible personalities in NBA history, so he knows a thing or two about keeping your cool. Monitoring New Orleans Pelicans In Saturday’s 115-105 win over the Utah Jazz, Jordan made sure to praise rookie Jeremy Ferse for a different kind of stat: a lack of technical fouls.
“He didn’t get a technical. I’m so proud of him,” Jordan said with a smile. “He didn’t get the technique today.”

A playful shot from the veteran came after a high-stakes game where emotions could easily boil over. Fears, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, played with a maturity that belied his age, especially after Pelicans star Zion Williamson left the game early in the second quarter with a right ankle injury.
With Williamson out, Fears stepped up significantly. The rookie guard finished the night with a huge double-double, pouring in 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. He also added five assists and two blocks in 34 minutes of action, showing exactly why he’s been atop the NBA’s rookie rankings all season.
The Pelicans relied on a balanced offense to secure their fourth straight victory. Sadiq Bey led the way with 24 points, while Bryce McGowens matched Firs with 18 of his own. Herbert Jones anchored the defense with 17 points and eight rebounds, helping New Orleans overcome a late surge by Utah’s Isaiah Collier, who finished with 21 points.
For a Pelicans team starting to find its stride in the Western Conference, Fears’ development as a poised playmaker is a huge win. If he can continue to put up double-doubles and avoid the whistle, DeAndre Jordan will have a lot more to be proud of.
