An insider hits on the JJ McCarthy debacle with a grim comparison

Whether it is or not The Minnesota Vikings are interested in Kirk Cousins reunion, they are warn JJ McCarthy. Also, an NFL insider hit on the McCarthy debacle with gloomy Anthony Richardson comparison, according to a post on X by Dan Patrick Shaw.
“Similar situation to Anthony Richardson last year,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said. “I think in a perfect world they’d like to bring someone in. “It’s like when you break up, or someone starts seeing other people – when they do, it’s clear that it’s probably over.
“Similar to Anthony Richardson with Daniel Jones. When (the Colts) signed Daniel Jones, they probably wanted to start him. They kind of knew where he was going. I think it’s a similar situation in Minnesota. They know where this is going, but they’re going to leave some room for JJ to surprise them.”
What are the Vikings KB options for 2026?
If they don’t put their eggs in the McCarthy basket, there are several quarterbacks that appear to be on their radar.
“Minnesota, I know, is looking at Kyle Murray,” Fowler said. “He’s one of their stronger reasons, I’d say, along with Gene Smith.”
“(Minnesota) is a hot team in the quarterback market right now. Even though (the Vikings) don’t have a lot of money to spend, all these quarterbacks (that) are probably being cut, that are cheap, because of the offset language.”
That’s good news for the Vikings. But they still have to get out and ground one of the guys they’re looking for. And sometimes those things don’t fall into place.
It could come down to where the best the Vikings can do this season is McCarthy. But with his performances last year, it looks like a dead end.
Still, the Vikings are a good draw because of head coach Kevin O’Connell and star receiver Justin Jefferson. The right quarterback could be a Sam Darnold-like difference maker for the Vikings. Ironically.
