As he waits to play Tree Young, Bilal Coulibaly finds his rhythm
Bilal Coulibaly he already shined against the Raptors with 14 points (6/10 shooting including 2/3 threes), despite his team’s loss. The Frenchman continued his momentum this Monday during the reception of the Rockets.
After two missed attempts, the Olympic vice-champion did not get discouraged: he again punished from afar as soon as he entered the game in the second quarter. At the break, Bilal Coulibaly already had four shots to win, a career high in one half.
“I see how hard he works, so I trust him completely when he opens the shot”, assures his coachBrian Keefe. “I always tell him to take them because he shoots more in practice than anyone. His work is starting to pay off.”
When he returned from the locker room, Bilal Coulibaly was more discreet, but still scored his fifth hat-trick of the night to tie his career high. With Washington trailing by a dozen points with five minutes left, he made a defiant buzzer beater on the counterattack and then deflected a pass from Kevin Durant.

Despite the loss, Bilal Coulibaly finished with 23 points (9/16 shooting, 5/7 three-pointers). A performance that confirms his good form: in the last five games, he averaged 14.4 points, with a solid 55% from 3-point range.
“I shoot even more in training”Bilal Coulibaly confides. “I’m finding a rhythm and continuing to have confidence in my work. Whatever happens, I follow the flow of the game on offense. I try to be aggressive, attack the rim and hit my shots. My teammates were able to find me, so it was easier.”
To make his life even easier, Bilal Coulibaly will be able to count on the entry of Trey Young into the action. Barring a reversal (or suspension…), Washington’s new leader should play his first minutes in Wizards colors this Thursday when they host the Jazz.
“We’re very excited because we know what he’s capable of”explains Bilal Coulibaly about Tree Young’s contribution. “It’s going to make everyone’s life easier. We can’t wait for him to start playing. I’ll be able to cut more to the rim because I know he’s going to find me.”
