Al Horford supports Luke Cornett’s takedown of the Hawks’ Magic City Night

Most recently, the San Antonio Spurs big man Luke Cornett made headlines when he took to his blog to speak out The Atlanta Hawks recently announced the partnership with the Magic City adult entertainment venue for the upcoming game. now, Golden State Warriors big man, and Cornett’s former Boston Celtics teammate, Al Horfordhas joined the conversation.

“Well said Luke,” Horford wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“The NBA should want to protect and value women, many of whom work diligently every day to make this the best basketball league in the world,” Cornett wrote in his blog post. “We should promote an atmosphere that protects and respects the daughters, wives, sisters, mothers and partners we know and love.”

Horford was a member of the Atlanta Hawks when they hosted a “Swipe Right” Tinder night in the 2015 season, starting a streak of branding for the team that many might not expect from an NBA organization.

So far, there is no indication that the NBA or the Hawks will step in and take Cornett’s advice by ending the promotion, which will take place later this month for a home game against the Orlando Magic.

The Hawks touted Magic City hoodies as part of the festivities, and game ticket sales skyrocketed as a result of the announcement.

Cornett’s blog post opened up a larger discourse on social media about the adult entertainment industry as a whole and whether family-friendly organizations like the NBA should even be associated with it.

Meanwhile, some have called out Cornett for opposing this, but not talking about the NBA’s less-than-savory partnerships with gambling companies and other similar organizations.

It remains to be seen if anything will happen as a result of Cornet’s demands.
