Tracy McGrady’s ‘frightening’ warning amid intensifying playoff race

Things are looks relatively great for the Toronto Raptors in the 2025-26 NBA season.

After missing the boat for the NBA playoffs in each of the last three seasons, the Raps appear to need to return to the postseason as they entered Tuesday at 35-25, good for 4th place in the current Eastern Conference standings. Only the Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks have better rosters than Toronto.

Although it may be too early to tell if it is The Raptors are a lock to make the playoffsformer Toronto star and basketball Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady believes that the team has what it takes to at least win the series in the postseason, despite his struggles in the Atlantic Division.

“They didn’t do well against their division. But if they played well against their division, they’d probably be the second-best team in the Eastern Conference,” McGrady said, via Josh Levenberg of TSN Sports.

“That being said, they still have a lot more upside. They can be a scary team in the playoffs.”

McGrady added, “And if they’re healthy and build some momentum in the playoffs, I think they can win the series. I also want to give Scotty flowers because it’s been his team for a long time, he was willing to sacrifice himself for BI (Brandon Ingram) coming in, to be himself.”

The Raptors are just 4-9 against Atlantic Division rivals heading into Tuesday’s meeting with the New York Knicks, although they are 27-15 overall against Eastern Conference teams.
