Mike Dunleavy Jr. admits he’s too ‘busy’ to watch Jonathan Cummings tear it up with the Hawks
Golden State Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. he doesn’t care Atlanta Hawks forward Jonathan Cumminga after trading a veteran at the deadline. After registered feud with Steve Kerr led to Kuminga’s trade Upon request, the Warriors’ head coach reduced the forward’s prominent role on the team to being cut from his rotation.
Dunleavy addressed Kuminga in a recent interview, according to Tim Kawakami of the San Francisco Standard.
“I haven’t watched anything yet.” Dunleavy said. “We’ve been really busy with things here in a myriad of different ways. I think with JK all the time, I mean, the talent is there. This guy is a good basketball player when he’s playing the right way, when he’s doing the right things. We wish him the best. I think he could do really well.
“He’s a talented player and over many periods of his career here with the Warriors, he’s had some big games, some big moments and some great stretches. We know he’s capable of that.”
Is Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. thought about keeping Kuminga during the trade deadline and offseason?
“I think you know, there was a trade request (by Kuminga before the deadline) that was announced, and I think any time a player wants to do that, I want to try to accommodate,” Dunleavy said. “You want people who want to be here. And for that reason, we felt the time was right to move on.”
“I think JK is happy about it, I think we’re in the right place for it, it was just the right thing at the time.”
Cumminga followed up a game-high 27 points in the Hawks’ 119-98 win over the Washington Wizards with 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting and seven rebounds in a 135-101 win over the Portland Blazers.
Why Kendrick Perkins calls out Warriors’ Steve Kerr

ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins called out Warriors coach Steve Kerr for how he handled things with Jonathan Cummings this season. For Perkins, Kerr didn’t give Cummings enough opportunities before his exit from the Warriors, he said, according to ESPN’s Road Trippin.
“We knew Jonathan Cummings had a high ceiling. Steph Curry knew it, Draymond Green knew it, Jimmy Butler knew it,” Perkins said. “The only person who didn’t believe it was Steve Kerr.”
The Warriors will face the Rockets on the road on Thursday.
