Draymond Green addresses calls to shut down Stephen Curry and tank

Golden State Warriors advance and podcaster Draymond Green joined the conversation o Steph Curry is shutting down until the end of the season so the Warriors can push themselves. Curry suffered a right knee injury on Jan. 30 against the red-hot Detroit Pistons; it didn’t seem serious, and the Warriors listed him daily as the All-Star break approached.
But Curry has been out for more than a month, with the Warriors saying they will reevaluate him soon. Now, the Warriors face a tough stretch without Curry and Jimmy Butler, who went down midseason with ACL injuries. With the Warriors sitting as the eighth seed and having lost seven of their last 11 games, there has been much speculation that the season is over.
U interview with Tim Kawakami from The TK ShowMike Dunleavy Jr. didn’t completely rule out Curry being sidelined for the rest of the season, but said it would be a surprise if that happened.
“It would be very, very surprising. But, you know, I’m not going to rule anything out; I’m not a doctor, and things can go a certain way. So I don’t want the title to be Steph maybe it’s going to be over in a year because I’m not ruling it out, but just because he’s not playing right now, I just have to admit, but I expect no chance.
Given the conversation, Green discussed the possibility Warriors who made that decision in his self-titled podcast.
“I see a lot of people saying, ‘Oh man, they should just tank and not bring Steph back for the rest of the year’ and all that stuff. One thing I would tell you is this: locking Steph up for the rest of the year is not something that’s just going to happen, unless he can play. I can also assure you, Joe Lacob didn’t see Matt going to tank. tank You get better even if we finish bad and get a good draft, but that’s Joe Lacob, for sure.
It should also be noted that ClutchPoints senior NBA insider Brett Siegel reported that sources indicate that Curry would be receiving around-the-clock treatment to put himself in position to compete in the playoffs. The Warriors have been on a break of sorts, with no games Tuesday and Wednesday, as they prepare for Thursday’s game against Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets, which will air nationally on Prime Video.
With the Warriors having an interesting slate of games against strong teams like the Thunder on Saturday, the Timberwolves on March 13 and the Knicks on March 15, a decision will surely have to be made on Steph’s immediate playing future to keep the Warriors at least in the Play-In picture.
