Shedeur, Deion Sanders get eye-opening questions from Stephen A. Smith, Cam Newton

Era of Deion Sanders leading the Soccer in Colorado team with son Shedeur Sandersit’s over at quarterback. Shedeur played his last game with the Buffaloes in the Alamo Bowl a few weeks ago, and now he’s off to the NFL. He had a lot of success in Colorado, and everyone is eager to see how he does at the next level. Everyone is also eager to see how Deion handles his son in the NFL.

There were rumors about Deion Sanders potentially wants to coach in the NFLbut he is currently the head coach of the Colorado football team. Shedeur Sanders goes to the prosand he probably won’t let his dad be his head coach anymore. Cam Newton is wondering how he would take it.

“The biggest question for Shedeur Sanders is can he be coached by people other than his dad?” Cam Newton said further First Take. “Because when you look in the real world, when you think about the statistics, you’ve only had one coach since you were eight years old, and now you’re 22. Can anyone really, and is they really coached properly?” a way to say, ‘Hey, boy, sit down! Oh, that should, wait man, can you please sit down?’ Because the offensive coordinator or running backs coach is employed by his dad. It’s a realist.”

Newton is also curious how Sanders will handle being in an NFL locker room. For the first time in his career, he won’t be a big player on the team.

“And how about an NFL locker room of veterans who have earned their due?” Newton continued. “Another question I have is what have we seen from Anthony Richardson this year, what have we seen from Bryce Young this year. Can Deion (Sanders) put his son on the bench? Can Deion cut his son Sheel (Sanders)? Or even just given the situation, like it’s a big league in the NFL, and I know what that NFL locker room is going to look like, because now you’re talking to men men, not boys, you’re talking to men, that’s probably making more money than you . So how do you say that in retrospect on that and it’s just something to just think about.”

Stephen A. Smith is the main host on First recording, so he was part of this discussion. He answered Newton with a question of his own, this one focused more on Deion Sanders instead of Shedeur.

“First of all, Deion Sanders and I go back over two decades,” Smith said. “That’s my brother.” I have mad love for him, very proud of the work he has done in Colorado. I still think it was a huge mistake by the state of Florida not to take him into custody. He wanted that job, but they didn’t give him that opportunity. I think I’d like to see him in the SEC with a big time program with big, major dollars where recruiting and NIL and all that stuff wouldn’t be an issue. Having said all that, I think you’ve asked the wrong question. You asked about Shedeur Sanders and if he can be coached by someone other than his father? I would ask, can dad coach someone else at quarterback?”

Coaching your son is one thing, coaching someone you are unfamiliar with is completely different. Stephen A. Smith definitely makes an interesting point.

“I believe in Deion Sanders,” Smith continued. “I believe in the work Deion Sanders has done to prepare him and his sons for the next level.” I believe that, but in the same breath to step back from the points you’ve won in terms of whether you’re going to bench your son? Is anyone going to talk to this player, to your son, knowing they work for you, or the assistant coach, etc., etc. You can ask that question that way. What I would ask is, okay, when your son is no longer a quarterback. You know your son inside out. He has your DNA, your dress and everything that comes with it. We know who Shedeur Sanders is, we understand all that. What if it’s someone else.”

A lot is changing for Shedeur and Deion Sanders. Both are entering some uncharted territory and it will be interesting to see how it is handled.
