A change in mindset that helped Nikola Jovic reverse a brutal slump
MIAMI – Like The Miami Heat impressively defeated the Denver Nuggets Monday night, 147-123, the game featured many contributions, one of which stands out from Nikola Jovic. With The heat is burning over Jović in the past three games, he seems to have turned the corner, and the young striker has spoken of the change in mindset he has undergone.
It’s been a mostly frustrating season for Jovic, even after he received a $62.4 million contract extension in October, but it took a turn for the worse when he suffered a scary elbow injury on Dec. 15 against the Toronto Raptors.
After missing the next four games, he returned and had a different energy, making an impact in each game, especially in the win over Denver, scoring 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, 5-of-8 from deep, to go with five assists and four rebounds.
Also, playing the key role of center in the small ball lineups on Monday, Jovic would say after the game that there was a mental reset, saying that it started with the treatment of basketball “more like work.”
“Of course, yes,” Jovic said. “I would also give credit to my family, who came here and somehow helped me get back on the right path. When you have people around you who love you, it certainly helps. “But for me it was to stop looking at basketball as a hobby and something I love and to look at it more as a job, as a profession, because that’s who I am now. So now I come in every day with a different approach, and I guess it has to stay that way.”

Heat’s Norman Powell on Nikola Jovic and his recent success

Doc Jovic is now influencing the Heat since his return from injury, his teammates, such as Norman Powell, have been instilling confidence in him. The A veteran guard could be heard cheering for Jović during his press conference and even in his own reporter, talking about what he saw from a 22-year-old.
“I always joked with him, like, ‘Put that other Nick in the past. Nobody before the injury, we don’t want that. We want this Nick now,'” Powell said after scoring 25 points Monday. “I’m really glad he turned around. It’s a long season. There’s going to be ups and downs, but you’ve got a coaching staff, you’ve got a team that really believes in what he can bring to the table and the potential he has as a player. But it’s all on him. He’s got to put in the work; And he’s got to be focused on it and he’s got to be focused. the sky’s the limit for that kid.”

Norman Powell talks extensively about how Nikola Jovic is changing the team dynamic. I noticed it was more locked down.
“I’m always on him like you’re 6’10, play like you’re 6’10. When he does that and doesn’t hesitate, he’s a whole different basketball player…” #HeatNation pic.twitter.com/znolUfBDFn

Either way, Jovic looks to remain consistent in his minutes and role in Miami as the team is on a three-game winning streak, trying to make it four straight Thursday against the Detroit Pistons. The current score is 18-15, which puts the team in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
