A former star that AEV “wasn’t interested in”.

Despite what people say, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, as former WWE star Enzo Amore learned the hard way after trying to make the jump to Tony Khan’s AEV.

During an appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, Amore — who is on a “solid” spot — found that he had reached out in AEV after it was published by VVE. They haven’t signed it, and he’s done praying for acceptance.

“AEV is something I’ve considered,” Amore revealed. “I reached out, (but) they weren’t interested in (me). I’m at the point where if it’s me, then screw you. I mean, what do I care? What, do you want cancel me? I have nothing to lose, bro. I’ve already lost everything. They dragged me through the mud.

“And, you know, when you treat them like dirt, they stick like mud, bro. I don’t care. If you treat me a certain way, I’ll treat you the same way,” he continued.

Whether or not that approach works for the Amores remains to be seen. He currently competes on the independent circuit and is not signed to any promotion, although he did appear on the pre-show TNA’s Slammiversaries in July 2025.

Enzo Amore announced WWE 2018

Amore had a long stint with WWE from 2012 to 2018. However, allegations of sexual assault led to him being suspended and then fired. He was the current heavyweight champion at the time of his release.

After being released to WWE, Amore joined Ring of Honor in 2019. He has also appeared in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPV) and Major League Wrestling (MLV) since his departure, in addition to his independent run.

Amore was a two-time Heavyweight Champion during his WWE tenure. He also had a long-standing partnership with Big Cass, and they remained a tag team for several years.

Besides wrestling, Amore is also a rapper. He previously released an album called Rosemary’s Baby Pt. 1: Happy Birthday 2018. His second album, Born in Nj, was released the following year.
