A great first for Bradley Beal
Cut by the Suns with a very, very large check, Bradley Beal joined the Clippers this summer, and former Wizards scorer came back last night. It was in San Francisco against Stephen Curry’s Warriors.
Everything went very well, as the Clippers won (106-103), and Bradley Beal was good, especially in the first quarter where his “pull-up jumper” skills did the damage. We’ve also seen him break out on defense for two interceptions, or on an offensive rebound and score a layup. The results of this first one: 12 points on 6 of 9 shots (0 of 3 on 3-pointers) in 15 minutes with 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block.
After a disastrous spell with the Suns and months on the mend, it felt like redemption for him, and Tyronn Lue is clearly delighted to be able to revive him.
“We’re just happy to see him back on the field.” the Clippers coach confided before the game. “He worked a lot to get here, to be able to play a preseason game again, and I’m really happy for him. But we just have to let him be who he is: a scorer, a creator and become a leading defender again. He’s excited for this opportunity, and so are we.”
Bradley Beal set himself the goal of being in uniform for the first game of the season against the Jazz 15 days ago. A priori, all the lights are green, and he should be there.
