A normal injury update on Powell will put the attack to the test against Wembey’s Spurs

Miami The Heat are playing good basketball to start the season, and their offense blew away a lot of people – and teams. One player who has contributed greatly to that side of the ball is Norman Powellwho was traded to the Heat during the offseason.
The Heat will have their biggest test of the season against the San Antonio Spurs tonight and will have to try to win without Powell, who is dealing with the groin problemaccording to Ira Winderman.
“Norman Powell hints he will be out tonight with a groin problem. Nikola Jovic moved to probable,” Winderman wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Powell spoke about how he felt the morning before their game against the Spurs, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be out for long when asked if he’ll be available when they face the Los Angeles Lakers.
“I feel good. Better than the last few days,” Powell said. “So I’m just taking it day by day. Excited for the road. Excited for the game tonight, supporting and rooting for the guys. Being active, participating in the scrimmage with what I’m seeing and how we can attack these guys offensively and defensively.”
“I don’t want to put any pressure on anybody. But I’ll just say that I don’t plan on being out too long.”
Offensive error put teams out
The Heat are top 10 in offensive rating so far this season, and they are scoring at a high rate. After the first win against the Memphis Grizzlies, Bam Adebayo talked about the new offensesaying they didn’t play in the first half.
“Playing at this pace, you like to see everybody having fun together, everybody touching the ball,” Adebayo said after scoring 24 points. “You can’t really scout plays for us. There’s no play. The whole first half (Friday against the Grizzlies), I don’t think Spo made a play. We’re trying to keep that going all season.
“It’s fun when we play like this. It’s fun when we can get up and down, we can run that pace. Obviously, misses or shots dictate that, but our thing is just to keep playing this style of basketball where there’s no holding. We swing, we cut.”
It will be interesting to see if the Heat can sustain this style of play, and if they can, they will be hard to stop all year long.
