All-Star draw Dodgers, Mets trade interest, and it’s not Nolan Arenado

The St. Louis Cardinals they have the mindset of stepping up in the National League Central next season. After three years of failing to earn a postseason berth, they are determined to improve their baseball team in any way President of Baseball Operations Haim Blum can manage. That means making a few moves during the offseason, one of which could include trading infielder Brendan Donovan.
Baseball insider John Morosi reported that there are multiple teams interested in talking to Bloom and cardinals about Donovan. Those teams include the two-time World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Mets and quite possibly the Philadelphia Phillies if they can’t hold on to Kyle Schwarber.
Donovan is a versatile performer who can play 2nd base, 3rd base or left field. He was a National League All-Star last year and won a Gold Glove as a rookie in 2022. Donovan slashed .287/.353/.422 with 10 home runs and 50 RBIs last year. He was even more productive in 2024 when he scored a career-best 14 runs and drove in 73 runs while slashing .278/.342/.417.
Donovan is a bit of an old school player as he regularly puts the ball in play and avoids shots. He has fanned 67 times in 515 appearances, and many teams will consider the player to make contact.
