Andre Drummond is too alone against the Heat’s size
If it is imposed on 2m11 and 127 kilograms, Andre Drummond he can’t take care of Kel’el Ware (2m13) and Bam Adebayo (2m06) by himself. 2m13 and 2m08 from Joel Embiid and Adam Bona would have done a lot of good for the Sixers when they faced the Heat, but both were dropped.
That’s why Nick Nurse pulled the rope as much as possible with the 32-year-old pivot, so that he was on the floor as soon as necessary, because Dominic Barlow, Paul George and Trendon Watford, the biggest members of the team behind the former Detroiter, lacked centimeters for the battle under the circle.
“Ware really came into his own when Drummond was on the bench. His size was too much for the others.”, laments the coach of the Sixers while the Miami player grabbed four offensive rebounds in less than three minutes, after releasing his pivot, at the end of the first quarter. “So we tried to match Drummond’s minutes. But, once again, he was a little too tall and long for most of the game.”
The former Detroiter grabbed half of his team’s rebounds
In Miami’s winKel’el Ware finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds, including 8 offensive, Bam Adebayo with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Overall, Miami won the rebounding battle (58-47), with Andre Drummond gobbling up half of his team’s shots in 38 minutes with 24 rebounds.
“I want to start by saying that the rotations are not in our control and those who are playing have to do it as well as possible”commented the former best jumper in the league, who always saw himself as the best in history in this field. “We face good teams and it’s hard to find a rhythm when you don’t know who will play from night to night. But that’s no excuse. We could have won this match, we made mistakes at the end of the match.”
The Sixers really weren’t kicked out. But they shot too often, most recently in the final quarter, to hope for victory. “This can be explained by several things”assures Trendon Watford. “Obviously the offensive rebounds in the first half and also our poor defense.
