On a miraculous three-pointer in the corner, after recovering an offensive rebound, Donovan Mitchell just tied the game at 138-138 and cooled the room. Only to be forgiven for missing the game-winning shot at the end of regulation time.

There are 0.4 seconds left on the clock, and we know this is enough in the NBA to make a layup and shoot. Isn’t that Derek Fisher… It’s a throw-in for Nikola Jovic, and the Serbian finds Andrew Wiggins for the alley-oop win! Kaseia center explodes, and Heat wins 140-138.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

– Heat undefeated at home. For the third time in their history, the Heat started the season with five consecutive home wins. The previous two times were in 2012 and 2019, and each time Miami reached the NBA Finals. They even won in 2012/13.

– Return for Darius Garland. The All-Star point guard re-injured his toe in the 3rd quarter, and we’re pretty worried on the Cleveland side. It was that same left big toe that cost him four playoff games last season and the first seven games of this season.

– excludes Kenny Atkinson. Tired of the referees, and Scott Foster in particular, sending the Heat players to the line, Kenny Atkinson received his second technical foul at the very end of the 3rd quarter.
