Andrew Wiggins pulls off a stunning score after Donovan Mitchell’s crazy kick
On Monday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat they fought in a competition between two declining teams. And just like seemingly every other game on today’s NBA slateand this game was decided in the dying embers. This time, the Heat had the last word — with Andrew Wiggins guided the ball home safely on an incredible lob pass play to give Miami a 140-138 overtime victory.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has been on fire lately, as he transformed this Miami team into one of the best offensive teams in the NBA, despite being without two of their All-Stars, Tyler Hero and Bam Adebayo. With 0.4 seconds left, Spoelstra had another moment of genius, like him designed the play for Wiggins to get open near the rim on a screen from Davion Mitchell — forcing Sam Merrill and De’Andre Hunter into a moment of confusion that freed the Heat up front.

This was such a heartbreaking end to the game for the Cavs, a team brought back to life by the crazy Donovan Mitchell 3-pointer on the previous possession that tied the game. On that play, Merrill missed a 3-pointer that faded toward the right corner. Mitchell then pulled down a jumper — his 15th of the night — and rushed back toward the other corner, drilling a high-arcing 3-pointer over Kel’el Ware as he falls out of bounds.

Mitchell was 2-15 from deep at that point. But the Cavs star came through when it counted, which was crucial Darius Garland has to come out game with a toe injury aggravating again, only for the Heat to fight back with Wiggins’ game-winner.
The Heat moved to 7-4 on the season, tying the Cavs in the standings in the process.
A balanced heat attack gets the job done

This superstar-less Heat team is outscoring opponents, thanks in large part to how egoless each of their rotation regulars are. Seven different players scored in double figures for Miami, helping them advance amid the absence of some of their key players.
They have a rematch against the Cavs on Wednesday, although it is unclear whether Bam Adebayo or Tyler Hero will be able to return until then.
