Anthony Black knocks down a crazy dunk against the Grizzlies

Orlando Magic guard Anthony Black turned heads on Thursday night after dunking four Memphis Grizzlies players to help his team secure a 118-111 victory. With many considering him a “Dunk of the Year” candidate, Black is speaking out and sharing his take on the play.

While speaking with NBA Insider Marc Stein, the soon-to-be 22-year-old guard admitted that watched his climax 15 to 20 times. He then explained what he saw as he took the ball to the rim and hit it.

“I probably watched it 10, 15 times. 20 times,” Black said … “I got the ball, I saw one man in front of me. I saw everybody else kind of slow coming back. So, try to get by my man, and then, honestly, I just saw Santi (Aldamo) jump. Like, that was the only person racing me until I saw it. I was like, ‘Oh.’ But I just saw the tape. (It was wide open, you know, I felt confident and tried to fly.”

From Anthony Black’s perspective, he only really saw one player in his path during the dunk attempt. Which makes sense considering the other three Grizzlies defenders were technically behind him during the dunk. Anyway, it is it was an exceptional performanceand it will be one to remember for the 2025-26 season.

The third-year guard is having a breakout season of sorts this year with the Magic. After playing a more backup role in his first two seasons, Anthony Black appeared as one of the main contributors to Magic. Through 41 games played so far this campaign, Black is averaging 15.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 46.7% from the floor and 35.9% from the three-point line.

He will have another chance to shine on Sunday when the Magic take on the Grizzlies once again. This time, however, it will be a road game, as the contest takes place in Memphis.
