Anthony Davis breaks his silence when Nico Harrison takes a shot

The The Dallas Mavericks released Nick Harrison as general manager at the beginning of November. However, since then, Anthony Davisthe player Harrison traded for in the controversial Luka Doncic trade, didn’t say much about the organization’s decision. On Wednesday, Davis finally broke his silence.
In a conversation with media representatives, the 32-year-old center admitted he was surprised Harrison’s firing, according to Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News. Anthony Davis also claims that it was hard to see Harrison go, but in the end he understood that it was a business decision made by the Mavericks.
“It was surprising more than anything,” Davis said. “Nico is my guy. He played a big role in getting me here and wanting me to fulfill his vision that he saw. It was definitely tough. Me and him talked. Me and Patrick talked. That’s the business of basketball.”
Asked Anthony Davis about his reaction to Nick Harrison’s sacking:

While the decision to fire Nick Harrison was a shock to Anthony Davis, it wasn’t to the fans or anyone else outside of the franchise. The decision to trade Doncic in his prime against the Los Angeles Lakers for Davis was, and still is, one of the most shocking trades in league history.
Since being traded to the Mavericks, the 10-time All-Star has only managed to play in 14 games. Niko Harrison has been banging the drum for months that Dallas would be a playoff contender if injuries hadn’t plagued the team last season. Instead, the team missed the postseason in 2024-25, and injuries continued to be a problem for this team.
Davis is currently dealing with a calf injury that has him on a day-to-day basis. So, he is expected to return at some point. In the five games he’s played so far this season, Anthony Davis is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.0% from the field and 27.3% from the bench.
With Harrison out of the picture, trade speculation surrounds Anthony Davis. With a team seemingly intent on building around Cooper Flagg, finding a trade partner to move on from Davis is certainly within the realm of possibility.
