Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II injury updates

DALLAS — Dallas The Mavericks will be without Anthony Davis and Derek Lively II once again on Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans due to injuries. Before the game, the head coach Jason Kidd provided updates for both players.
According to Kidd, Davis — who has a strained left calf — is growing and is considered day-to-day.
“He reported feeling better,” Kidd told reporters.
Lively, listed on the injury report with a sprained right knee, also appears to be heading in a promising direction. The center could return next week.
“Lively has been participating on the field and he’s doing well,” Kidd said. “Hopefully he’ll be back next week.”
The Mavericks hope to get the big men back sooner rather than later. Cooper Flagg could use some help as he adjusts to his first season in the NBA.
Dallas should enter Wednesday night’s contest with a weak 2-5 record. New Orleans has undoubtedly struggled – they’re just 1-6 overall – yet the Mavs are just a game ahead of the Pelicans. It’s too early in the season to panic, but this Mavericks team needs to figure things out sooner rather than later.
Injuries did not help the situation. In addition to AD and Lively, Kyrie Irving (left knee surgery) and Dante Exum (right knee injury treatment) are also out. A healthy Mavs team has potential, but injuries are unfortunately proving to be a hindrance at this point.
The good news is that Anthony Davis and Derek Lively II could be back soon barring unforeseen setbacks.
