Anthony Davis gets key injury information for Clippers showdown

The Los Angeles Lakers have their first matchup against their former neighbors from Cripto.com Arena, the Los Angeles Clippers. Not only is this the first meeting between these two teams this season, but it will also be the Lakers’ first visit to the brand new Intuit Dome. The only question is who will be available to play. Anthony Davis appeared on the Lakers’ injury report ahead of their showdown against the Clippers after missing the team’s last game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Anthony Davis is official listed as suspicious on the Lakers injury report for Sunday. Before the Lakers’ game against the Nets on Friday, he was listed as probable. But as game time approached, he was eventually sent off.

Davis was dealing with plantar fasciitis since the offseason. He has followed him throughout the season so far. After the Nets game, Lakers head coach JJ Reddick mentioned that Davis felt uncomfortable going through his pregame routine.

“He went through the pregame and had some soreness in his foot,” Redick said. “Out of an abundance of caution, we endured him.”

Redick also mentioned that his assumption was that Davis would be available against the Clippers. In addition to Davis, Jackson Hayes is listed as questionable with right shoulder soreness.

The Lakers are changing their frontcourt rotation

The Lakers’ frontcourt has seen a number of changes this season. They failed to build a healthy rotation as Jared Vanderbilt and Christian Wood have yet to make their debuts in 2024-25. Doc Vanderbilt got a big injury update recentlynot quite ready for court yet. There are currently no updates on Wood’s status.

Jackson Hayes began the season as the Lakers’ backup center, but he also dealt with injury issues, limiting his availability. The The Lakers played small ball with Rui Hachimuraviewing time in the center. They also relied on two-way contract players in major roles.

Christian Wood was in the rotation earlier in the season and occasionally gave the Lakers quality minutes. He was inactive on Friday, giving way to new two-way signing big man Trey Jemison. Jamison was immediately thrown into the fire, and Redick said he saw mixed results in the Lakers’ second-year debut.

“He played hard,” Redick said. “There were some things he wasn’t good at, but it was his first day on the job.” We will be patient with him.”

Official word on who is available against the Clippers likely won’t come until closer to tip-off, but if Davis and Hayes aren’t available, then there will be more minutes for Jamison and/or Kollock.
